The Hamsa Diamond Pendant is the protective hand in its symmetrical form — a thumb on each side, three fingers between them — cut free with no backing plate, so the outline of the hand is the outline of the piece and the gaps between the fingers are cut clean through.

The whole face is pavé-set, and the rows do the drawing. They run in concentric arcs around the palm, following the curve of the hand, and then turn to run straight down each finger. Setting the rows to the form rather than across it is what keeps a small piece legible: at 1.75" you still read a hand, not a bright shape.

The eye is the piece. A marquise opening is cut right through the palm — not engraved, not recessed, actually open — and a single large round brilliant is set into it as the pupil, held so it sits proud of the surrounding pavé. It is the only stone on the piece at that size, and it is deliberately the thing your eye lands on first. Light passes through the opening around it.

The bail is a single-row pavé post set with larger rounds to match the centre stone, with a 5mm opening.

The hamsa is worn for protection across North Africa and the Middle East, in Jewish, Muslim and Christian communities alike. The eye set in the palm is the part that does the warding.
