The Partially Iced Diamond Jesus V2 Pendant splits the piece in two. Everything that would have been carved hair — the two long panels falling either side of the face, the full beard, the moustache — is set solid with small round diamonds instead, worked in rows that follow the fall of the hair. Everything that is skin is left in bare, sandblasted gold: the brow, the nose, the cheeks, the lips, the throat.
The crown of thorns is braided, not a band. Three twisted strands cross over and under each other right round the head, each strand pavé-set along its length, with the thorn points left as bare polished gold spikes standing clear of the stones. It sits proud of the skull rather than lying flat on it, and you can see daylight under it.
The eyes are two round diamonds. One stone set into each eye, open and looking straight out — the only stones anywhere on the face.
The skin is matte, so the diamonds have somewhere to sit. The whole face is finished to a fine frosted sandblast. Against that the hair reads as one continuous field of light and the features read as modelling. It is the contrast that carries the piece, not the stone count.
The build is hollow with a solid back. The face and hair are formed as a shell and closed off behind by a solid plate, which is what keeps a 32mm head at 14.2 grams in 14K. Seen edge-on the piece has real depth — the nose and brow stand well forward and the hair falls in a stepped plane behind them — but it is not a heavy solid lump on the chain.
The bail is a long tapered three-row pavé post, set on the front face and down both sides, with a 6.5mm opening. It reads as part of the piece rather than as a fitting.

This is the second version of our Partially Iced Jesus. The first is a larger piece with a polished face; this one is smaller, the face is left sandblasted matte instead, and the crown of thorns is braided rather than laid flat. Same idea, different reading of it — if you want the high-shine face, ask for the original.
