A figure carved in the round, not a plate with a picture on it.
The 3D Standing Kachina Doll Pendant is a full sculpture — finished on the front, the back and both sides, so it reads as an object rather than a relief. At 3.25” tall it is the largest piece we build in this style, and the profile view is as considered as the front: arms standing out from the body, the kilt turning in space, the boots set apart.
The figure wears a tall rounded case mask topped by a straight polished crossbar, with small tabs at the temples. A thick segmented ruff circles the neck in satin, and below it the body, arms and legs are worked all over in raised round bosses against a high polish — a texture that carries the light down the whole length of the piece.
A sash crosses the chest on the diagonal and both hands come forward together holding a short staff. From the waist hangs a broad satin kilt cut with a stepped geometric border, and the legs finish in banded cuffs at the ankle above heavy plain boots with turned-up toes.
The finish alternates deliberately: bright polish on the dotted body, satin on the ruff, the kilt and the boots. On a piece this large that keeps the eye moving from top to bottom instead of settling on a single glare.
The bail is a wide flat polished band sitting behind the crossbar so the figure hangs upright and square on the chain.
