The Saint Michael Archangel Pendant is a cross-shaped plate — a rectangular field with the arms of a cross breaking out of all four sides — and it is worked on both faces. A beaded rope border follows the entire outline, every bead cut, around a shape that has more than twenty corners.

The front is the battle. Michael stands at the centre in armour and a short military cloak, both wings open and lifted, spear driven downward. Beneath him the devil is already fallen, twisted back across the lower field. The whole ground behind them is carved into flame — not a plain recess but curling fire worked into every space the figures do not fill, which is what gives the scene its heat.

The relief is deep. The near wing and the raised arm stand well clear of the plate, and the finish is satin throughout so the modelling holds shadow instead of flaring out.

Turn it over and the reverse is a second finished face: a tall ornamental cross with palmette ends and pierced scrollwork down both members, laid over a satin field with a radiating burst in contrasting metal behind its centre, framed by the same beaded border.
